International Programs
For more information on Penn State's 150 programs abroad, including programs through other Big Ten universities (AESOP), the Council for International Educational Exchange (CIEE), and the Institute for the Exchange of Students (IES), please visit http://www.international.psu.edu.
Note that summer programs, and AESOP/CIEE/IES programs, are listed separately at the end. Penn State programs require substantial advance planning: the deadlines are usually November 1 for the following fall, and April 1 for the following spring.
For a relatively complete listing of non-Penn State study abroad programs that are open to you, check out http://www.studyabroad.com. If you go on a non-Penn State program for a semester or year (as opposed to a summer), you will need to take a Leave of Absence from Penn State. This is not as daunting as it sounds, but it does have certain financial aid and course-equivalency implications, and it requires careful planning.
