Preparing for Graduation
Step 3: Checking Your Honors Graduation Requirements
The Schreyer Honors College recommends that students check their transcript at the end of every semester to ensure that all 14 honors credits for the junior/senior block are appearing correctly. Courses counting as honors credits in the junior/senior block include:
- Honors courses
- 500-level courses
- Honors Option courses (be sure to submit the Honors Option form by the end of the third week of the semester)
- Honors Independent Study/Research courses (be sure to submit the H.I.S./R. form by the end of the third week of the semester)
- Study abroad
experience
One semester abroad = 3 honors credits; one year = 6 honors credits
For summer programs, or programs less than one semester in length, please contact the Schreyer Honors College office to find out how many honors credits will be granted
Scholars planning to graduate in less than four years must still complete a minimum of 14 honors credits in the junior/senior block. However, we will count back two years from the semester of graduation. Please note: While 400-level courses do count as honors for Scholars in the first and second year, 400-level courses will not be counted as honors during the junior/senior block for Scholars graduating in three years.
Scholars are required to submit a Thesis Proposal Report one year prior to graduation.
Scholars are required to have a current Annual Academic Plan on file with the Schreyer Honors College.
Scholars are required to submit the honors thesis by the appropriate deadline.
- Fall and spring semesters: the Monday of the last week of classes
- Summer sessions: the Monday of the last week of classes, in the final summer session
If you have any questions about your honors graduation requirements, please contact Roberta Hardin, Coordinator of Student Records at 863-2635, or via e-mail at rhh1@psu.edu.
